Boann | Irish Mythology

In Irish mythology, Boann was the goddess of the River Boyne, a river in the Irish province of Leinster.

Boann was the daughter of Delb´eth, who was son of the Fomorian Elatha.

Boann took The Dagda as a lover, but to conceal their relationship The Dagda stopped the movement of the sun for a full nine months. During this time, Boann and the Dagda had a son, Aengus. Because the sun was still for the entire period of Boann’s pregnancy, it is said that Aengus was conceived and born in a single day.
